One of the key factors keeping women in vulnerable situations is financial dependence and insecurity. Recognizing this, RENEW’s Livelihood programme aims to provide appropriate and sustainable skills trainings that lead to income generation and greater financial independence. Our goal is to ensure that the women who receive livelihood skills training are able to strengthen their self-reliance and support themselves and their children through effective livelihood strategies.

Content for Social Enterprise

The Bhutanese textiles symbolize a rich and intricate source of a distinctive cultural art form. It represents a significant identity for the people of Bhutan and its culture while also showcasing the artistic talents of the weavers across the country. The textile industry plays an important role in the crafts category as weaving is one of the significant crafts of zorig chusum (13 arts and crafts) of Bhutan.

The textile in Bhutan has been evolving and found its way to transform into a contemporary fashion industry where the simple-yet unique pieces are being incorporated into casual or formal wear and accessories. The integration of the modern and tradition has empowered the textile industry and helped it grow and develop with the latest trends.

Over the years, RENEW catered various livelihood skills training to disadvantage women and girls and the training opportunities are extended to other vulnerable key populations laid off employees, and Oversea returnees. RENEW popped up with the idea of social enterprise for engaging and creating opportunities for income generation for women and girls.

RENEW social enterprise is focusing on textile products that cater to both the domestic and international markets.
