International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW)25 November 2025

Theme: Commemorating the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Honoring His Majesty’s Leadership in Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. Bhutan marks IDEVAW 2025 by celebrating His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s visionary leadership in promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Since the early years of development, His Majesty’s guidance has strengthened equal access to education, health, and opportunities. Milestones such as the establishment of the National Women’s Association of Bhutan and Bhutan’s ratification of CEDAW in 1981 laid the foundation for progress. Today, institutions like NCWC and RENEW continue to advance this national commitment to protect and uplift women and children.
