Every year on 25th November, people and nations across observe this day as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (IDEVAW) and following 16 days of activism to highlight the plight of discrimination and abuse against women and girls worldwide. With the aim to raise awareness and mobilize efforts to bring about changes in societies in Bhutan, RENEW in collaboration with National Commission for Women & Children (NCWC), UNICEF, UNFPA, IPPF SARO and SAFE organized a three day event from 23-25th November 2017 with the global theme “Leave no one behind: end violence against women and girls” and local theme “Strengthening community vibrancy”.
The global theme reinforces the commitment to a world free from violence for all women and girls around the world, while reaching the most undeserved and marginalized. In keeping with the commitment, Bhutan continues to bring in board civil society, service providers by partners to bring about a collaborative, coordinative towards elimination of VAWG.
